SiteTracker
Problem
- Keeping track of the changes made to a SharePoint 2007 intranet was difficult. In order to accomplish this, you need to subscribe to a list to know if the item(s) has changed. Subscribing to the many lists available or having knowledge of the lists can be difficult and time consuming.
Solution
- SiteTracker enables you to monitor changes to all the sites in SharePoint 2007 you have selected in SiteTracker’s administration tool.
Features
- SiteTracker will display all the items that have change in the areas that you are interested in and allow you to mark them as read so that Site Tracker can start to watch for new changes.
- SiteTracker gives you the ability to filter out your own changes (by default).
- SiteTracker allows you to select the sites, webs and lists you want to track via the “Administer Tracked Sites” link.
- SiteTracker offers even greater granularity by allowing you to remove individual lists within a site that you may not be interested in by selecting the red X next to the item.
- SiteTracker gives you the ability to mark your items as “read” once you feel you’re completed. And by clicking “Show Recent Changes” those items marked done are easily displayed again.
Rules
-
SiteTracker uses the following rules to determine what to show:
-
SiteTracker will show not more than 75 items that have been changed on the site, which is more productive.
-
By default SiteTracker goes back only 3 days looking for changes.
- By default SiteTracker will not show changes to the site if they are made by the user. It will only show changes other users make.
- If the user clicks “Mark all as read”, all items in the SiteTracker window will be removed. They will show up again if there are additional changes to the item.
- If the user no longer wishes to see changes to a particular area, the red ‘x’ next to the list can be clicked and that list will no longer be monitored.
- If the user clicks “Show recent changes”, site tracker will go back and collect changes 3 days.
