Okay, I created a Tweet, but then at the last minute I changed the text in Twitter. How do I update the text in the Social Media Campaign Manager?

First thing is to locate the post. This is found at:

Sitecore -> System -> Modules -> Social Media Campaign Manager -> Posts -> [YEAR] -> [MONTH]

Where the [YEAR] and [MONTH] are the current year and month.

Once you locate the post, modify the TweetText field to match what you have in twitter. This text should NOT include the t.co shortened URL. It should only include the text that you changed.

After modifying the Tweet text make sure you press the SAVE button located in the top left corner of your Sitecore screen.

Why does the Event Detail graph only show three days of data?

Our research lead us to the conclusion that a typical tweet or Facebook post has a life span of between two and three days depending on what day of the week the message was created. Since the most effective time period is this two to three day window, we decided that the Event Details graph would provide the most relevance showing the first three days of data starting with the day of the message.

  • The Tweet Event Details graph is for three days starting the day of the tweet.

Why do I need to login to Twitter? Can’t you store my login credentials?

This was part of our original design. However, Twitter has started placing restrictions on third party applications that directly interface with the Twitter API.

Why is Twitter Cracking Down on Third-Party Apps? (February 23, 2011)

Twitter cracks down on third party clients (March 15,2011)

We made a conscious decision to exclude the user credentials to avoid any possibility of Twitter disallowing our application to work.

I created a tweet/Facebook post using Social Media Campaign Manager, but never actually posted it. How do I delete it?

This is a two-step process. When you create a new tweet using Social Media Campaign Manager (SMCM) two distinct records are created. The post is saved in the Posts folder, and a campaign event is created for the selected campaign. So we need to delete both of these entries.

Step 1) First thing is to locate the post. This is found at:

Sitecore -> System -> Modules -> Social Media Campaign Manager -> Posts -> [YEAR] -> [MONTH]

Where the [YEAR] and [MONTH] are the current year and month.

You can simply delete the post from the folder, by right clicking on the item and select Delete. Please make a note of the event name since we will need this to complete the second step.

Step 2) Go to the Marketing Center. This is found on the Sitecore Start Button Menu. This will open the Marketing Center. Go to :

Marketing Center -> Campaigns -> [Campaign from Tweet]

Then locate the campaign event you created. Right Click on the item and select Delete.

I created a tweet using Social Media Campaign Manager, posted it on Twitter and now I want to delete it. How do I do that?

You can delete a tweet by following the following steps. However, it is important to note the following.

If the tweet has no analytics activity (no one followed a link you tweeted), the two steps below will remove the tweet. If however, someone did click on a link you tweeted, then a record will be in the analytics database. You can follow these two steps to delete the post, but the item will still appear in any Campaign reports you run. To drop the campaign event from the database you will need to get a developer to do this for you.

This is a two-step process. When you create a new tweet using Social Media Campaign Manager (SMCM) two distinct records are created. The post is saved in the Posts folder, and a campaign event is created for the selected campaign. So we need to delete both of these entries.
